About me

Jay began his career in Credit at Westinghouse Canada in 1988

at that time, he also joined the Credit Institute of Canada as a student and earning his Certified Credit Professional (CCP) designation in 1992.  Jay has over thirty years of experience with Credit, Collections and Accounts Receivable Management. Jay served as a Director on the CIC National Board from 2013 to 2019. He was elected CIC President and Dean in 2019 and served until 2021.

From November 2008 until November 2018, Jay was the Downstream (Finished Products) Country Credit Manager for Shell Canada. He was responsible for managing Accounts Receivable for 10 lines of business, as well as off-shoring, staff training and upskilling, and procedural and organizational changes.

Jay’s work with his employers has taken him from Vancouver, where he grew up, to Edmonton to Kamloops to Barrie to Saskatoon, back to Edmonton and St. Albert, and finally, to Calgary.

He has had the privilege of being able to travel extensively within Canada on business and to see this great country from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Vancouver Island.

During his career, Jay has made over 2500 customer site visits and over 10,000 Collection calls and has approved thousands of Credit Applications and Credit Reviews.

Jay is married to Jane, an early childhood educator who helps special needs children. They have a daughter, Tori, and a son, John.
